Angelo Gaja, the reigning prince of Piedmont, almost single-handedly put Barbaresco on the fine-wine map. Since taking over the family winery in the late 1960s, Gaja has helped to transform once-sleepy Barbaresco into a center of adventurous Italian winemaking and turned Nebbiolo into a popular grape. He also pioneered the development of Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay as stand-alone varietals, a radical move in the region. Never content to rest on his laurels, he acquired an estate in Barolo in 1996, invested in Bolgheri in Tuscany and has added a Brunello to his stable.

If there is a pantheon of modern winemakers, Angelo Gaja would surely be a prestige member. If you know wine, you know his name and his reputation. Always the innovator, Anjelo Gaja has introduced a number of exciting winemaking techniques to Piedmont. His supremely talented daughter, Gaia (yes, that's right), has now taken over the day-to-day operations of the winery. The dynasty is in very good hands.

Vintages is privileged to offer, direct from Gaja's cellars, an exceptional collection of wines from the 1999 through 2006 vintages.

These wines are designed for mid- to long-term ageing (check the reviews referenced below for cellaring suggestions). If you just can't wait, know that the 375-mL sizes mature sooner.

Call Vintages Sales Centre today at 416-365-5767 or toll-free at 1-800-266-4764 (Monday-Friday, 9 am-5 pm, except holidays).

Orders will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. There is no minimum order size. Quantities are limited. Vintages reserves the right to limit quantities per customer.

Vintages requires a 50% deposit of your total order at the time of order placement.

Vintages requires payment at the time of order placement. Payment can be made by VISA, MasterCard or American Express. If you collect AIR MILES®*, please have your number ready. Please note: we will only process orders where complete credit card information is provided.

These wines are expected to arrive in late Autumn/Early Winter 2008. Vintages will contact you for payment of final balance when your order is ready to ship to the LCBO store of your choice. Please note we do not ship outside the province of Ontario.
